Where You Can Get COVID-19 Testing While Traveling

In response to all the different travel restrictions and requirements out there right now, airports, hotels, and resorts are making an effort to offer on-site COVID-19 tests to travelers. While many airports in the US have COVID testing available, we’ve compiled a list of some of the fastest and most affordable COVID tests available at the larger airports. Additionally, now that the US is requiring a negative COVID test to enter the country via air, many hotels and resorts in Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America have implemented COVID testing on-site. Some are even providing complimentary tests and access to quarantine accommodations as well.  

When you’re traveling for business, you might not have the availability in your schedule to quarantine in your hotel for a week while you wait for your COVID test results. However, there are plenty of airports within the US that offer rapid testing, affordable testing, or both. 

Domestic Airports with COVID-19 Testing

JFK International Airport in New York has on-site PCR tests for $75 with results in 2-3 days, rapid tests for $200 with results in 15 minutes, and antibody tests for $75, or you can get both an antibody test and a rapid test together for $90 through XPresCheck. XPresCheck will also attempt to bill your health insurance. 

LaGuardia International Airport in New York has complimentary testing with results in 48 hours administrated by NTC Health and Hospitals Clinicians. 

Burlington International Airport in Vermont has rapid COVID and flu testing as well as PCR testing with results available in 36-48 hours. The tests are administrated through Garner Health and they can attempt to bill health insurance.  

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in Arizona also offers XpresCheck Thursday through Monday from 9am to 5pm. The have rapid tests for $200 available in 15 minutes, antibody tests available for $75 with results in 2-3 days. 

Los Angeles International Airport in California has PCR tests for $150 with results in 24 hours or less. 

Ft. Lauderdale International Airport in Florida has rapid antigen tests with results in 30 minutes for $69 and PCR tests with results in 48 hours for $99. 

Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Hawaii has testing for $125 with results in 3-6 hours. 

O’Hare International Airport in Illinois has COVID rapid antigen tests with 20-minute results and PCR tests with results in 72 hours. 

Portland Airport in Maine has $25 rapid tests with results in one hour for Maine residents and visitors to Maine or free PCR tests for Maine residents and visitors to Maine. 

Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Michigan has drive-up COVID testing in the economy parking lot. 

Newark Liberty International Airport in New York has PCR tests for $30 to $60.

While airports with COVID testing is definitely convenient and helpful for domestic travel, with the CDC’s new requirement to provide a negative COVID test or proof of recovery before boarding a flight to the US, international travelers need to get tested before they arrive in US airports.  

In response to this new policy, many international resorts and hotels have implemented on-site COVID-19 testing for guests. 

International Resorts with COVID-19 Testing

Mexico 

In Mexico, there are numerous resorts with on-site COVID testing that’s completely free for guests. The AMResorts family (Secrets, Dreams, Sunscape, Now, Breathless, and Zoetry Resorts), Groupo Xcaret Resorts, Karisma Hotels and Resorts, La Coleccion Resorts (Live Aqua, Grand Fiesta, Fiesta Americana, and The Explorean), Palace Resorts, Royalton Resorts, and Velas Resorts all have complimentary COVID testing. Other resorts like Fairmont Mayacaba also offers free COVID testing, but only for guests who stay at least three nights.  

Cancun and Riviera Maya (Club Med Cancun, Grand Residence, Riviera Cancun, Palmaia – The House of AIA, Planet Hollywood Beach Resort Cancun, Sensira Resort & Spa), Los Cabos (Hilton Los Cabos Golf & Beach Resort, The Cape, Salmar Hotels & Resorts, and Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal) have on-site COVID testing for an additional fee. Similarly, The Palladium Hotel Group and Viva Wyndham Resorts can organize testing, but there’s also an additional charge. 

Antigua 

In Antigua, The Royalton Antigua Resorts have on-site antigen testing for additional fee and Captain Bluff has rapid antigen and PCR testing on-site as well.  

Aruba 

Aruba has three certified testing centers with results available within 24 hours for $75-$125. The testing centers are located near Eagle Beach and Palm Beach, but they also test at hotels for those who call in advance to schedule testing.  

Additionally, Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino offers antigen testing for $50, but they also have the “We’ve Got You Covered” four-night package that includes testing. Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort also has on-site testing with same-day results. 

Bahamas 

Caerula Mar Club, Grand Hyatt Bana Mar, Ocean Club (Four Seasons),  and Viva Wyndham Resorts all offer on-site testing. 

Bonaire  

Health Center Bon Bida Bonaire offers on-site and mobile testing. They offer PCR tests on location for $150 with a $120 travel surcharge. Results are available within 24-36 hours.  

Dominican Republic 

Many resorts are providing on-site COVID testing including AMResorts, Club Med, Eden Roc Cap Cana, Karisma Hotel & Resorts, LA Coleccion Resorts, Palladium Hotels, Royalton Resorts, and Viva Wyndham Resorts. 

Playa Hotel & Resorts Collection (Hilton Romana, Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, Sanctuary Cap Cana) are providing free COVID testing for guests who stay a minimum of three nights. 

Grenada 

In Grenada, Laluna & True Blue Bay have on-site testing available for guests and Calbash Luxury Boutique Hotel is providing free testing on-site for guests. 

Jamaica 

Jamaican hotels and resorts have gone above and beyond to ensure that travelers have no excuse not to follow protocol.  

All Royalton Resorts in Jamaica offer free antigen testing and medical assistance coverage to cover the cost of any accidents or illnesses (including COVID-19). Similarly, Karisma Hotels & Resorts as well as Palace Resorts have free COVID tests for guests and free quarantine accommodations for up to 14 days if guests test positive. 

AMResorts and Couples Resorts also offer free onsite rapid testing for guests. 

St. Lucia 

Many hotels and villas in St. Lucia are offering complimentary rapid testing to qualified guests including Anse ChastanetBay Gardens propertiesCalabash Cove Resort & SpaCoconut Bay Beach Resort & SpaCap Maison Resort & SpaEast Winds ResortJade MountainLadera ResortMarigot Bay Resort and MarinaSandals Resorts in Saint LuciaSerenity at Coconut BayStonefield Villa ResortTet RougeTi Kaye Resort & Spa, and Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort.  

St. Kitts and Nevis 

St. Kitts and Nevis required visitors to take an exit test before leaving even before the US implemented the entry test, so hotels can arrange on-site testing. 

St. Vincent and the Grenadines 

St. Vincent and the Grenadines have the strictest testing policies in the Caribbean. Visitors must take a PCR test before and after arrival. Visitors have to take a third test between days 4 and 7 as well. St. Vincent and the Grenadines have designated “bubble resorts” where travelers must stay until their final test comes back negative.  

The Mandarin Oriental in Cancouan is a bubble resort and administers COVID tests to guests in their rooms for $100. 

Petit St. Vincent is another bubble resort that offers PCR tests for $65 with a 3-day turnaround. 

Turks & Caicos 

Tests in Turks & Caicos are expensive at $185-$215 per person. 

Beach Enclave has private villas and guests can get tested within their own villa. Club Med Turkoise also has on-site PCR testing and they’re expecting to have antigen tests in the near future.  

Additionally, the staff at Ocean Club Resorts will assist with booking appointments and arrange transportation at one of the testing centers on the island for guests.  

Costa Rica 

A few resorts in Costa Rica are offering on-site COVID testing for guests. Planet Hollywood Beach Resort has free on-site tests included with your stay and they’re even offering free medical assistance coverage to reimburse select medical costs associated with COVID-19 and other illness now through March. Likewise, Casa Chameleon hotels in Mai Pais and Las Cantinas offer free onsite testing through April 30, 2021 for guests staying at least five nights. 

Panama  

The Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort in Panama has on-site COVID testing. They have a molecular swab test for $95, quantitative antibody test for $35, and antigen tests for $45. 

In addition to the numerous resorts and hotels, many international airports have started implementing on-site COVID-19 testing as well. 

International Airports with COVID-19 Testing

Frankfurt am Mein Airport Test Centre has COVID tests for £59 with results in 6-8 hours. They also have express tests for £139 with results in three hours. Additionally, for £9, travelers can purchase an official internationally valid verification to present to authorities in various countries. 

Berlin-Tegel Airport in Germany also has COVID tests available.  

The Thessaloniki Airport in Greece has on-site testing available daily with results available in six hours.  

Dublin Airport in Ireland has COVID testing provided by Roc Doc Health Check and Randox for travelers who book tests in advance. PCR tests are £129 with results in 1-2 business days, LAMP tests are £149 with results in 12 hours, LAMP test express tests are £199 with results in five hours, and rapid tests are £89 with results in one hour. They have drive-up and in-clinic tests available.  

Keflavik International Airport in Iceland has tests for £60 for travelers who pre-register and £70 for travelers who don’t pre-register. 

Paris Charles de Gualle and Paris-Orly Airports have COVID testing on-site 

Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow has express COVID testing with results in one hour for £32.55. 

Vienna Airport Health Centre has PCR tests for £190 with results in 3-6 hours on weekdays and within 24 hours on weekends. They also have rapid antigen tests as well.  

Hong Kong International Airport has rapid PCR tests available from Prenetics for travelers departing from Hong Kong for $65. 

Narita International Airport in Tokyo has PCR tests with results in six hours tests for $444 that cannot be covered by insurance. 

London Heathrow Airport has many options for COVID testing on-site. They have PCR tests with results in 48 hours for £99, LAMP testing with results in 90 minutes for £79, rapid antigen tests with results in 45 minutes for £50, and antibody tests with results in 45 minutes for £40. They also have a drive-through PCR testing center with next-day results for £80. 

Guanajuato International Airport in Guanajuato, Mexico has antigen tests for $22 and PCR tests for $72 that are only available for international travelers.  

The Benito Jaurez International Airport in Mexico City announced that they will introduce on-site COVID testing soon.
